It was a hard to say goodbye to our buddy Cain. He had a gift, as all dogs do. He taught me the spirituality of the companion, of the friend who walks alongside, helping, sharing and sometimes just sitting, empty-handed, when you would rather run away. The spirituality of presence, of being alongside, watchful, available, of being there. Yes, Cain was just a dog. And spirituality is for humans. But Cain gave me a way to connect with others in doing work for God. Perhaps there exists in your life someone who needs a companion, someone who wants someone to walk along with them and just listen. RIP Cain. Thank you, buddy.
Do not press me to go back and abandon you! Wherever you go I will go, wherever you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people and your God, my God. Where you die I will die, and there be buried. May the LORD do thus to me, and more, if even death separates me from you!”
